Many of us dream about starting a business but sometimes we’re not sure what the right path is. On one hand, we yearn to experience financial freedom but on the other, we also want to fulfil a higher purpose that will benefit the wider community.

For Matt Woosnam, Nurse Next Door’s Brisbane South Franchise Partner, choosing to start a home care franchise meant experiencing long-term sustainable growth and

The last 15 months have changed Matt’s life, and we decided to sit down with Matt to reflect on what has been, and what will be.

This is Matt’s Success Story as a Nurse Next Door Franchise Partner:

What has been the key to your success so far?

I remained persistent and played the long game with my franchise so I could experience long-term sustainable growth. For me, it wasn’t about instant growth in the first month, I wanted to make sure that I could keep up with the demand and continue providing WOW Customer Service to all my clients, exceeding their expectations.

In the last 15 months, my business exceeded my expectations and I continue experiencing growth month-on-month while still being able to manage the expectations and meet the needs of all my clients.

How has Nurse Next Door’s HeartQuarters helped you achieve your success?

There is a number of people who support me in all aspects of my business but in particular, having my Business Coach as a sounding board has really helped me throughout my journey. I cannot speak highly enough of the support I get from her and any of the team at HeartQuarters.

Similarly, having Care Services available 24/7 to assist with intakes, inquiries and scheduling has allowed me to ensure I can continue focusing on my business, my team and most importantly my clients.

Where do you see yourself and Nurse Next Door South Brisbane in the future?

As I mentioned, the growth of my business has definitely exceeded expectations in my first year as a Nurse Next Door Franchise Partner and at this rate, I can see continued growth in the future. Even my accountant cannot believe the positive impact we’ve made financially.

For me, however, it’s not just about seeing the financial growth of my business’ future but, also being able to know that we can continue Making Lives Better for our current and how many future clients we can help to make a difference in their daily lives.

Can you imagine what your journey as a business owner would look like if you were not part of the Nurse Next Door Franchise System?

Not at all.

I’ve been in and around franchising a lot, both as a franchise partner, and working within the headquarters of a franchisor. I’m really impressed with the amount of support we get as a franchise partner and how it is actually a partnership.

A lot of franchises that have been around talk about partnerships between the franchisee and franchisor, but I actually think it’s part and parcel when it comes to Nurse Next Door Home Care Services.

What is your most memorable moment as a Nurse Next Door Franchise Partner?

We had one client in particular who was in the later stages of Parkinson’s Disease and did nothing but sit in front of the TV all day, every day. My nurse went in to take care of him and noticed a guitar sitting in the corner of the room. During his next visit, my nurse brought in his own guitar so they could ‘jam’ together.

Now, that client sits in another lounge chair away from the TV and next to a sliding door to get some fresh air and ‘jam’ with my nurse for half an hour each day. My client even says “tar” (guitar) to my nurse as an indication he is ready to play. Not only has playing the guitar reignited my client’s passion for music but also allowed him to work on his motor neuron skills, and hand-eye coordination while he strums.

It’s incredibly special.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering becoming a Franchise Partner with Nurse Next Door Home Care Services?

Just do it.

I know it’s scary at the start, and I’ve said this to a few guys that started their Nurse Next Door Franchise after I did.

Don’t be worried about whether the clients will come because, believe me, it comes and there is so much out there for you.

Just do it.

It’s really changed my life in the last 15 months.
